The main goal of the project “MICC – Opportunities without Borders” is to contribute to the development of civic and social competencies of young people aged 15-29 in Sofia Municipality, including the extreme areas of the northwestern arc around Bankya, Vladaya, Bozhurishte and Novi Iskar. The project places special emphasis on young people from vulnerable groups, including those of minority origin, with disabilities and special educational needs, in consultation with their representative organizations, such as ARDUS and ARDE.
The specific objectives of the project “MICC – Opportunities without Borders” focus on:
Engaging and motivating young people to participate in the life of local communities by facilitating access to information, expanding learning opportunities, volunteering and participating in youth initiatives;
Supporting the initiative and activity of various youth communities on the territory of Sofia Municipality and its surroundings; integrating them into European values and standards for youth work through consulting, training and support for the implementation of youth initiatives and projects;
Providing an adapted and accessible service for young people from vulnerable groups, including young people with sensory disabilities, suffering from epilepsy and often discriminated against due to the nature of their health and limited ability to communicate in a classical way;
Development of the capacity of youth workers and development of an NGO network on the territory of Sofia Municipality, engaging young people and encouraging the exchange of experience and good practices.
The project is related to the following priorities to the NPM 2011-2015, namely:
Promoting the personal development and economic activity of young people and improving access to information and quality services;
Increasing the civic activity of young people;
Prevention of social exclusion of disadvantaged young people;
Development of intercultural and international dialogue among young people
